Agro-Processing Company, API, is a company that has started agriculture since 2009. it has its headquarters Nyagatare district, Karangiza sector, Rubagabaga.
In 2014 it started with seed multiplication using the OPV (Open Pollinated Variety), working in the cultivation of hybrid corn seed. now they multiply seeds of corns, soja, and beans.
these seeds are multiplied in three steps ; Pre-basic, basic and satisfied. API takes those seeds that are still in the second step and converts them until they are to the step of ‘Satisfied’ where they are given to the farmer.
API possess a property that is beyond 1000 hectare. they can produce about 800 tonnes of hybrid corn seeds and 120 of soja seeds in one quoter. when those seeds have been well prepared, they are given to the Western seeds company, which is the company in charge to deliver them to farmers, after their standards being approved by the administration of the RAB.
API was put in place to facilitate government programs to reduce the importation of seeds, seeds that are expensive and could be carrying diseases. it the company that multiplies produce more seeds in Rwanda.
our greatest objective which is also vow we want to fulfill is to have an affordable seed for the Government and the farmer. this means there will be no more need to pay extra money to import them and a farmer will be able to afford them and on standard quality.
up until January 2020, API employe about 300 people per day. it works in farming and importation of fertilizers ; in the coming days, it is starting on a new project of car farming in order to produce.
